BACKGROUND

Teams from Newlands have been entering the University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Festival for many years. We have had  varied success, with a student going to The Globe in London in 2014, but we always have a lot of fun. We perform a short 5- 15 minute extract from a Shakespeare play that is chosen depending on numbers involved.

Participation is open to all but you need to be committed to rehearsals. We have varying levels of participation from back stage/costume help to music creation to major and minor performing roles. This group is open to student directed entries as well as at least one piece directed by the Head of Drama. All students welcome.

REHEARSAL

Once a week - lunchtimes initially and then a couple of weekends - day/time to be confirmed as we get closer to the performance date.
