Tuition

$18,000 per year in 2026
$19,000 per year in 2027 

Tuition Fee covers all classes including ELL (ESOL if required), internet, textbooks on loan & government levies.

Administration Fee

$1,000 (first year only)

Insurance

$747 per year as of June 2026
Insurance Fee covers Medical & Travel Insurance as well as Uni-Care NZ Student Plan (standard policy with no pre-existing conditions nor expensive items declared)

Homestay

$380 per week in 2026
$410 per week in 2027

Homestay Fee covers the cost of homestay supervision, a fully furnished room, all meals and laundry. All students have a room of their own.

Additional Homestay Related Costs

  • $100 – Airport transfer (annual) 
  • $40 per week – Special dietary requirements
  • Personal items and spending money 
  • Transport costs 

Additional Costs

These costs will vary according to the individual programme chosen by the student. There may be additional costs for things like:

  • Outdoor experiences and trips (costs may vary)
  • Course materials 
  • Trips out of school
  • Scholarship entries
  • Sports team registration
  • Music lessons
  • Instrument hire

Uniform

Approximately $800 for full uniform 

Uniforms can be purchased at NZ Uniforms in Thordon Quay or online.

E-Learning Requirement

Students at all year levels are required to bring their own device (e.g. laptop or tablet) to use in class.

Applying for a Refund of School Fees

  • Students enrolled for one term or less are not eligible for a refund.
  • If a student is not granted a study visa, tuition fees will be refunded in full, excluding any non-refundable fees.
  • If a student withdraws before or after starting school, a refund may be provided less than a minimum of 10 weeks’ tuition fees and any non-refundable fees. Written notice is required.
  • If Newlands College is unable to provide the course, any unused tuition and other fees paid will be refunded.
  • If a student becomes a domestic student or transfers to another school, a refund may be provided less a minimum of 10 weeks’ tuition fees and any non-refundable fees.
  • Normally, no refund is given if a student is required to leave the school for breaching the Contract of Enrolment.

Homestay Fees

  • If the college has guaranteed your accommodation, payments to your homestay family will be paid through the school accounts.
  • If you move out of your homestay before the end of your contract, the portion of your homestay fees not already used will be returned to you. You must give two weeks’ notice.
  • To have your homestay fees returned, you must complete a “Request for Homestay Refund” form two weeks before departure. These are available from the Homestay Coordinator.
  • Approved refunds will have any money owing to the homestay family deducted.
