Shakespeare ("Shaky") Day

For the second year running Year 12 students have been immersed in the world of Shakespeare through Newlands College's Shakespeare Day. The day started with an engaging performance of ‘Macbeth' by the Kore theatre company. Students, dressed in Shakespearean costumes, then participated in a range of workshops including Elizabethan Dancing, Lotions and Potions and Stage Fighting to name a few. The Amazing Race (Shakespeare style) followed where students completed six stations set around the school and community related to Shakespeare. After running in the race students well deserved the feast that ensued with Elizabethan style food. The climax of the day came with the expert performances of several extracts from Shakespeare's plays by Year 12 drama students. The day was enjoyed by all and we look forward to celebrating Shakespeare again next year.
